I came across J.B. Robinson Jewelers while looking for a birthday present for my mother-in-law. I found this store to be decent priced, personable staff and clean. The employees were very chatty and made you feel comfortable. My husband and I ordered a charm bracelet and told the lady working (older woman, blonde hair, bright eye shadow, small accent--think Jersey) helped us out. We told her the birthdates and we built the bracelet, it looked good, we paid and we were on our way. I mailed the bracelet out and it was loved by my MIL only to find out the birth stones were wrong. I didn't think much of it bc people make mistakes. I ended up going back 2 months later to get my wedding rings "re-dipped". I sent them off on the 30th of March and was told they would be ready on the 16th. It was written PROMISED DATE: 16 APRIL 2013. I stopped by the jewelry store on the 12th of April just to check in and was told there was an issue with my rings, the prong broke and it was being fixed and it should be back sometime on the 20th. I called again on the 16th and was told it would be ready on the 17th and I would get a phone call when they were in. I spoke to Wanda. I waited until a little past 6pm on the 17th and gave them a call inquiring about my rings and was told the same thing; something was wrong with the prong it wouldn't be ready until the 20th. I asked to speak to a manager and was given Wanda. She said bc it was getting fixed, it would add more value to my rings. I was a little upset seeing how Wanda examined my rings prior to sending them off and they were fine. Now they were broke and being fixed. I get a phone call on the 18th from a Filipino lady and was told my rings were at the store. I went around 6pm to pick up and was told that what I originally wanted done was complete and "have a nice day" I asked which prong was damaged and Wanda looked at me like I had 2 heads and asked me what I was talking about. I relayed the conversation I had with her and she said "no honey.. your mistaken, I said they recommended that you fix the prong" ------NOT WHAT SHE SAID! She denied and denied that what she told me over the phone was not what she said when in fact it was. They told me they examined the rings upon return and said it was fine. I ended up taking it to another jeweler in the mall to make sure it really was fine, I can't believe anything they say, I feel completely lied to and taken advantage of. I turned my wedding rings, rings I've had for 10 years into the hands of a "trusted" employee only to be given the run around and pushed off as if it wasn't a big deal. I really enjoyed chit chatting with the ladies while purusing the beautiful rings and day dreaming but after this experience, I will NEVER go back to them. Wanda is a LIAR. They may be a "sister" store of Kay's but I would just go straight to Kay's and pass these people and buy from a reputable jeweler. I will also be contacting the headquarters of the store as it seems everyone there is a "manager" and you can't make headway with anyone there.
I bought a fairly expensive watch from this store on the eve of christmas, wore it once and put it away. Got to NJ where I live and realized the watch had a few scratches on the bezel. I tried to exchange it at couple of the local kay jewelers but they wouldn't except it. I called this store in watertown and they were extremely friendly and helpful. They didn't ask any questions and were willing to give me an exchange if i mailed this watch to them. Overall very friendly staff and I will certainly buy from them again.
